Week 4 - Pitch for Pavilion Competition
For this week, we had to pitch our initial NABC proposal for the Bee Breeders' Timber Pavilion competition in a two minute video.
Our group was inspired by the competition theme, which calls for celebrating timber as a construction material. It's one of the most basic, sustainable, and historical materials, yet it's been somewhat neglected by contemporary architects and designers, who tend to only view timber as an aesthetic treatment or as an afterthought in their designs.
Our pavilion is aimed to challenge the false notion of timber being an outdated material by celebrating the primitive origin of timber as a construction material, while enhancing it with computer-aid design. The expected impact of the pavilion is to spark conversations about digital fabrication, and the polemic of robotic production and automation.
Trying to compress slides of information and an A4 page full of data regarding our pavilion and NABC into a short video without visual aid was a good exercise on honing our presentation skills, and making sure our information was presented in a clear, concise manner that doesn't cause any confusion or boredom in the audience.
