Week 3 - Anatomy of an Innovation
Given the task of dissecting and analyzing the monumental Ford Assembly Line, we set out to seek understanding of the world before and after the innovation.
While cars did in fact exist before Henry Ford come along to take the motor vehicle scene by storm, they were being produced via an extremely labor-intensive and time-consuming process. Not to mention, very costly, as well.
Ford did not settle for the usual route of accepting the status quo, and instead decided to think of a way to improve production methods, which he took inspiration for from factories in entirely different sectors.
This point specifically brings attention to the need for architects to look beyond their limited field of vision, and think of solutions derived from unexpected places. It is, after all, this new addition of thought that might carry that new dimension to help put all puzzle pieces together.
